Smok Pen Juice Fountain Review
Which means you need it a SOK Pen? We’ve heard of it, we’ve used it. But do we know why it’s great? Well, to start with, the SOK Pen has no screen. So what do we must be worried about then?
The SOK Pen has a built in screen that is protected by a scratch-resistant cover, but it still does not have any back light. If you’re using it in the dark (ideal for writing), the lack of back light won’t be too large an issue for you. If you’re just using it as a typical wet pen, the lack of screen can pose an issue. There are other pens out there which have back lights, so we’ll have to see on that one.
A feature we found pretty cool was the airflow system. The SOK Pen has a fan which can be switched on with the tap of a button. This clever air flow system allows the pen to draw warm, dry air through the pen’s nib and in to the reservoir which hold your liquid flavours. Cool, but does this airflow system work? It is effective, and in fact, we found that it improved the flavour of our Smok Vaporizers.
It’s all well and good, if your airflow is working, but what about when it is not? Well, we noticed that with some refills, the flavour became a little less intense. It didn’t get very good or worse, nonetheless it wasn’t quite as rich or creamy since it had been with the airflow activated pen. The refilling appeared to affect the consistency of the flavour, rather than the intensity. Maybe the airflow wasn’t working so well!
After some more research, we discovered that this issue could possibly be fixed by switching the airflow on or off. To get this done, you press and hold the “reset” button on the bottom of the SOK Pen. Then click on the “change” button. This will turn off the fan and activate the cooling mechanism. You can also select “turn off micro USB” which will switch off the pen but let the e-liquid circulate.
This is apparently an issue affecting a few of the older pens. A quick search on Google returned this one, but it was only among the last year’s models. The newer pens seem to be using the new micro usb port, but the problem is they are using a lower transfer rate. Transfer rates are measured in MB/s, or million bits/sec. If you want to get a really high quality e-liquid flavour, it can be best to buy a pen that uses a higher transfer rate, like the Vapro Fire Wire.
It is the problem with older pens – the micro usb doesn’t release until it is fully saturated with e-liquid, so the battery life is quite short. By turning off the fan, switching off the fire button and turning off the SOK Pen, we were able to get more juice in to the bottle without draining the reservoir. It really made an enormous difference when filling the tank! Ultimately, we changed to a Smok Vaporizer instead. Although it isn’t as good performing, and Smok Novo we didn’t like having to continually replace the e-liquid, for our purposes this was enough!
If you’re after a great gift idea for any occasion, a Smok Pen is a great choice. We’ve had people write us emails with compliments about our personalised pens. Most have praised the fine build and durability of the pens. They certainly live up to their name as one of the most creative and unique pens available today. So whether you are having a special occasion, or just have to recharge your batteries, I’d highly recommend the product. The built quality and the great flavour make this an absolute must have for anyone looking for that perfect personalised pen.
